More than 20 arrested in anti-drug operation in Brazil
More than 20 people were arrested in an anti-drug operation led by Brazil's police in several cities to combat cocaine trafficking from Bolivia, authorities announced Friday.
The Nocturnos operation was launched in several states of the South American country in a bid to disband an international criminal group involved in cocaine trade.
About 390 kg cocaine, as well as some substance to prepare, produce, and refine drugs, was captured during the operation, the country's Federal Police said.
The authorities said the cocaine was brought into Brazil from neighboring Bolivia by people who traveled across the border at night.
Preliminary investigation before the operation was launched more than one year ago in the town of Caceres, southwestern Mato Grosso state, which was the base of a core criminal gang.
