5.6-magnitude quake hits off west coast of South Island of New Zealand
An earthquake measuring 5.6 on the Richter scale jolted off the west coast of the South Island of New Zealand at 10:54:34 GMT on Saturday, the U.S. Geological Survey said.
The epicenter, with a depth of 34.90 km, was initially determined to be at 48.9665 degrees south latitude and 164.3480 degrees east longitude.
